UNDERSTANDING WEB: WORKBOOK
Into week one of this course. Exploring user journeys.
Below is identifying metadata and content of a site, and exploring a user flow example on the same site:

I have a quick sketch of a similar nature to the above exercise that I'd done this week, before using Miro for the 1st time - but, due to Covid, it's unreachable at work, so I will post up at a later time...
The above was a great exercise to start to understand a users journey when navigating a site.
The tail end of week one was card sorting - it was a great lesson and a good introduction to Figma for me. It was interesting to see how challenging it is in creating the correct amount/correctly worded categories for sorting. The LATCH system is great.
The independent study portion of this week was to explore examples of the LATCH system, and to create a user flow from one of them:

Initial thoughts about where individual journeys might go...

Finding some commonalities in news websites:

An older sketch from end of week one, I'd forgotten to add, identifying metadata on stuff.co.nz...

Some initial quick roughs, exploring user journeys and navigation options...

4x paper user journeys in Figma...

Mega user test #2: Great feedback, really constructive and usable. Below is a summary of the feedback that I will alter to improve the look and functionality of the site:

A rough scamp below of the 'adjustment plan' to improve the overall design:

End of week 5... The above sketch serves as the basis for new design, based on some contributing factors: feedback, the need to differentiate article sections better, more punch/colour and spacing out ie using the limitless vertical space available...
Resolution reqd of colour usage, design layout, fonts and a logo name/feel - development of these for final user mega test next week...!

Last week - 3rd user test. Great feedback from everyone today. The logo was deemed to be taking up too much vertical space which is true - have modified tonight, and I think the below will work better...

Refining final web look - exploring adding a bit of graduation to the colour blocks for a bit more depth:

Coding, coding, coding... what a challenge, but its kinda starting to make sense...
